Job Overview
We are seeking an
experienced and detail-oriented Project Associate (Access Audits – ICT) to
evaluate digital products, services, and systems for accessibility compliance.
The ideal candidate will audit websites, mobile and desktop applications,
digital interfaces, and technologies, ensuring they are inclusive and
accessible for all users, including persons with disabilities. The role
involves assessing compliance with global accessibility standards, engaging in
UX and inclusive design processes, and recommending practical solutions for
accessibility barriers.
Key
Responsibilities
Accessibility
Audits:
- Conduct comprehensive accessibility audits of websites, mobile apps, software, and other digital interfaces.
- Evaluate ICT systems, including learning platforms, kiosks, assistive technologies, and other digital solutions.
- Identify barriers for users with disabilities, including visual, auditory, mobility, and cognitive impairments.
Compliance
Evaluation:
- Assess adherence to accessibility standards and laws such as:
- Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1/2.2.
- Accessible Rich Internet Applications (ARIA) specifications.
- IS-17802 (India), Section 508 (U.S.), EN 301 549 (Europe), or local accessibility laws.
- Document the findings in detailed audit reports, with recommendations for resolution.
Inclusive Design
& UX Collaboration:
- Collaborate with UX designers and developers to implement accessibility best practices throughout the design and development lifecycle.
- Provide input on wireframes, prototypes, and user flows to ensure inclusivity.
- Engage in usability testing with persons with disabilities to validate accessibility improvements.
Recommendations
& Remediation:
- Deliver actionable recommendations to address accessibility issues and ensure compliance.
- Provide support for development teams during remediation, including code reviews and technical advice.
Stakeholder
Engagement:
- Work closely with product managers, developers, designers, QA teams, and external vendors to advocate for accessibility and inclusive design.
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on accessibility for ICT products and services.
Training &
Awareness:
- Conduct training sessions for internal and external stakeholders on digital accessibility, assistive technology, and inclusive UX practices.
- Promote a culture of accessibility and inclusion within the organization.
Technology
Utilization:
- Use accessibility evaluation tools such as WAVE, Axe, Lighthouse, JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack for audits.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and accessibility solutions, including AI-driven assistive tools.
Documentation
and Reporting:
- Prepare and present clear, actionable reports with evidence of issues (e.g., annotated screenshots, code snippets).
- Develop and maintain accessibility documentation, including policies, checklists, and guidelines.
Business
Development and Tendering:
- Proactively seek work opportunities from government bodies, corporate clients, NGOs, and the private sector.
- Develop and respond to tender bids and proposals for accessibility services.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to foster partnerships and collaborations.
- Represent the organization at meetings, conferences, and events to promote accessibility and universal design.
Qualifications
and Skills
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Applications, Information Technology, UX Design, or a related field.
- Certification in accessibility (e.g., CPACC, WAS, or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of WCAG, ARIA, and international accessibility standards.
- Hands-on experience with assistive technologies such as screen readers, magnification software, and voice control tools.
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and familiarity with frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.
Desirable:
- Experience conducting accessibility audits and usability testing with diverse user groups.
- Knowledge of emerging technologies like AI, AR/VR, and their accessibility challenges.
- Familiarity with accessibility guidelines for emerging tech, such as gaming platforms and IoT devices.
- Experience in accessibility documentation, such as creating VPATs (Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates).

Job Summary
The Project
Associate (Access Audits - Built Environment) will evaluate and assess
buildings, built environments, public spaces, and infrastructure to ensure
compliance with accessibility standards and universal design principles. The
role also involves business development, preparation of tender bids,
stakeholder engagement, and the ability to use architectural software for
planning, designing and reporting. The auditor should have expertise in
creating detailed reports, including Bills of Quantities (BoQ), and providing
actionable recommendations for inclusive design.
Key
Responsibilities
Auditing and
Assessment:
- Conduct detailed access audits of the built environment to evaluate compliance with national accessibility standards (e.g., Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, Harmonized Guidelines, National Building Code of India).
- Identify physical, sensory, and operational barriers that limit accessibility for persons with disabilities.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare detailed audit reports outlining findings, gaps, and actionable recommendations.
- Document accessibility compliance status using tools, checklists, etc.
Compliance
Monitoring:
- Verify adherence to accessibility standards during the design, construction, and post-construction phases.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and planners to integrate accessibility considerations in designs.
Consultation and
Training:
- Provide technical advice to stakeholders, including developers, government bodies, and corporate clients, on accessibility improvements.

- Certification in Accessibility (e.g., CPABE, CPACC, or equivalent) or preparing to gain one within 3 months of joining.
Experience:
- 3 Years of experience in accessibility auditing or architectural design roles.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, CorelDRAW, InDesign, PowerPoint, and other architectural/design tools for preparing layouts, drawings, and plans..
- Experience in preparing Bills of Quantities (BoQ) and cost estimates.
Technical
Skills:
- Strong understanding of accessibility standards and universal design principles and knowledge of inclusive design.
- Ability to create technical illustrations, infographics, visually engaging and effective PowerPoint presentations to support audit findings and for stakeholder communication.
- Experience as an Access Consultant, or related role.
- Familiarity with National Building Code Part 3 related to Accessibility and Harmonized Guidelines and Space Standards
- Ability to read and analyse architectural plans.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and technical report writing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team, managing workloads effectively.
