Accessible Transportation Around the World

Accessible Transportation Around the World is a biannual newsletter that explores advancements and challenges in accessible transportation worldwide, with a particular focus on developing economies. Originally launched in 1990 by Access Exchange International (AEI), it served as an essential resource for advocates and professionals in the accessibility field until 2022, when AEI’s Founder and Executive Director, Mr. Thomas (Tom) Rickert, stepped down.

Over more than three decades, AEI published around sixty newsletters, totaling nearly 500 pages, documenting public transport developments for people with disabilities, seniors, and other vulnerable groups in low-income regions. Newsletters since 2005 to 2022 have been made available on this legacy page. Additionally, we aim to provide researchers with access to AEI’s earlier newsletters (1990-2004) upon request, containing valuable insights about the work by different agencies in many countries on the issue of accessible transportation.

CABE Foundation is honored to carry forward this legacy, relaunching the newsletter due to popular demand with a slightly improved nomenclature, "Inclusive Transportation Around the World". We extend our gratitude to Mr. Rickert, whose continued passion and guidance at age 88 are invaluable. As Honorary Chief Editor, he leads CABE’s editorial team as we resume publication in November 2024. See our Newsletter Section for the CABE published six monthly newsletter.
